ESA (Electronic Solutions Associates)
has been selling 486 mainboards for commercial
and industrial embedded applications for several
years. We have found from experience that the
commercial 486 motherboards that were available
were not always suitable for our embedded customer's
needs. Some of the problems we had were typical
for the PC market, like rapid design changes
and poor quality control. We decided to design,
develop and manufacture our own 486 mainboard
with all the changes and features we wished
we always had (like 8 free and clear ISA slots).
Our 486 motherboard was designed to high
quality standards with quality components. It
is an "AT" format board with 8 unobstructed
16-bit ISA slots and one shared PCI slot. In
addition, some of our current customers requested
some features only offered on costly Industrial
"Single Board Computers", i.e.: "watchdog
timer" and "DiskOnChip".
We expect our 486 motherboard to have a long
production life with no "rev" changes
planned for the next 2-3 years. In the event
that essential components are to be discontinued,
ESA will provide our customers the opportunity
for end of life buy.
For our customers that need more CPU power,
we can offer some 586, PIII, or P4 motherboards with
more than the usual number of ISA slots in ATX
form factor.
Due to steady growth, ESA has moved to an office/warehouse in the
Tampa Bay area.
Our new offices will allow us to grow and provide
better products and services.
